thank you for cleaning the bathroom sink

For the dVerse Valentine’s day prompt “come and state it plainly“, and for D.

I don’t love you every day.
You know as well I do
that if I said so I would be lying.
There are days when the irritation
from brushing against each other
day after day
year after year
is like contact dermatitis,
that is never allowed to heal
but just gets more annoying,
until I have to scratch it.
But this constant abrasion
has carved us into shapes
that fit together.
Most days.

  1. I love the honesty of this, Kate. I think that’s called “comfortable love” and for me, over the years, that becomes and is the ideal 🙂
Hope to see you Thursday or Saturday at OLN LIVE! 🙂

    • Thanks Lillian 🙂
Unfortunately the timing of OLN live doesn’t work for me now school/work is back. It’s right in the morning rush at 7am. And the Saturday one is 2am – a bit late (or early) for me.

This is incredibly powerful writing, Kate! I especially like; “But this constant abrasion has carved us into shapes that fit together.” Yes! Thank you so much for adding your voice to the prompt 💖💖💖
