shy Thalia

Tuesday’s dVerse prompt was “choose your muse“. I think mine must be Thalia, muse of comedy and pastoral poetry, as that’s what I seem to mostly write. Finding quiet time to write is a challenge at the moment.

My muse is shy, she won’t come out
if there is anyone else about.
I hear her whisper, but can’t catch the words,
she demands silence to be properly heard.
So I wait impatiently, all day, and then,
when at last we’re alone, I take up my pen.

  1. I’m glad you chose Thalia! We all need to smile sometimes 😊

  2. Awww… I really like that Thalia is shy! That’s sweet 🙂

    Yours,
    David

  3. I love the idea of hearing her whisper but not quite being able to hear the words. I get that! Sometimes words pop into my head demanding to be put in a poem and I don’t know where they’ve come from or what poem they are destined for. Sometimes they hang around for months and then finally find a home and disappear.

  4. That’s really beautiful and nice. Love how you personified your muse, I could see it in my mind’s eye.

  5. in the shadow

    kismet kisses
    her cousin fate

  6. I like the intimacy of this.

  7. Well you can nudge her a bit until both of you are ready.
