2300, still 30C / back of the envelope

dragged from sleep by the heat,
the still air drowning me,
I stumble down the stairs
to splash water on my face, on my head

I swear I can hear my scalp steaming
as I put my whole head under,
letting the cool water saturate my hair

I grumble back upstairs,
to collapse, dripping, across the bed,
beside my sleeping husband

he sprawls there snoring,
radiating his 100W
and as I listen I calculate:

3MJ in a night,
5GJ over our 20 summers so far,
81 year life expectancy…

how much less heat
over the coming summers
if I simply smothered him now?

  1. But what about the winter’s warmth? Or did you include that in the calculations? 😁

  2. Love it! Won’t be showing this one to hubby though…… 😉
