In response to Eugi’s weekly prompt “tree of life“:

In our search for connection
we have raised a new tree
from the concrete and asphalt.

Steel skinned and copper veined,
it towers straight and strong,
above the playground, layered
with the wood-chipped eucalypts
that keep our children clean,
and safe from the touch of the earth.

The title is a reference to the belltrees in Terry Dowling’s Rynosseros novels. I think these towers are their ancestors.

  2. I love your unique approach to the prompt. Trees have their purpose no matter what they look like. Thank you so much for participating.
